By spending three months in Europe last fall, I became partial to certain cities. One of my favorites was/is…(drumroll please) VENICE. Or Venezia, if you want to embrace your inner Italian. Here are some of my favorite photos I took during my short weekend in Venice.
If there’s one thing you probably know about Venice, it’s the canals and (romantic, but cheesy) gondola rides.
Imagine gliding slowly down the narrow canals in a gondola on a moonlit night to musical accompaniment. Sounds like a movie, right? If there’s one thing you should know about me, here it is: I love people-watching. I really like this photo I captured of a father and daughter feeding some birds outside of a cathedral in Venice. They were surrounded by thousands of tourists, yet they seemed completely unaffected. What a beautiful moment for me to witness. Venice is a photographer’s dream. Beauty is everywhere…literally. The people are striking, the architecture is intricate, the canals are bountiful and the food is simply irresistible. I adore Venice, in all its magnificence. If this post has convinced you it is a must-see, let me warn you to save your shekels. Italy is expensive but (undoubtably) worth the splurge.
What is your top destination in Europe? If you’ve been before, what city did you grow to appreciate the most? Viva La Venezia!
